Just when you thought it was safe to back into the water... |
|
This is the ominous trailer for a truly intense shark encounter movie. We ask ourselves, “What could possibly draw the good (and tasty) folks of Amity Island into shark infested waters?” Why take the risk? This blockbuster left movie-goers crying out loud, “Step away from the water! What does he think he’s doing? Ahhhhg!” Apparently, a 25 foot long great white shark can really ruin your day. Sometimes going back into the water of faith-encounters with God will require great courage. Can you imagine Peter’s dismay when Jesus invited him to join Him in His casual stroll through stormy waters? It made no sense. In fact, it could not be safe in any sense. When Peter looked at the wind, he began to sink. As long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, however, he was able to do the impossible! (Matthew 14:25-33) The Lord is calling six of our high school students to South Asia this summer with an international outreach called Global Surge Two. I will have the honor of accompanying them on this adventure. They will be tasked by Jesus with sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with the lost young people of this distant land. The task is impossible to the human eye, but we intend to keep our eyes on the One who is calling us–Jesus Christ, the Champion of our salvation! Please pray for us daily as we begin an intense season of training together. I intend to impart my heart of love for Jesus Christ to these young champions. To follow Jesus Christ onto the water of His Kingdom-purposes only requires two things–faith and courage. These students have both. Fight the good fight,
Pastor Steve
